How we started
We are an organization that was started by friends that were tired of driving to Marion, Mansfield, Bucyrus, Galion, and further just to be in LIVE stage productions. Joey Powell and Ken Barnett got the idea to start this theatre company around 2009. They started working on the idea for the structure of the company and began to really see what worked and did not work for other theatre companies. In December of 2010, they held what would soon become MLT's signature event, Christmas in the Village. That first year was a huge success and after the holidays that year they gathered friends at a local church and told of this great idea. Since then, MLT has been going strong doing shows like Alice's adventures in Wonderland, Beauty and the Beast, Scapino!, The Wizard of OZ, OKLAHOMA!, Diary of Anne Frank, Shrek and more. The great people of Morrow County have embraced MLT and given us a home. Well not a home. To date we meet and rehearse at local venues and perform around the county.
In the future, MLT would like to be able to offer summer workshops to share our passion for theatre with the youth of the county. The workshops would teach students how a show is staged from the choosing of a show to the directing, lighting, sound, set design, and much more.
